The most important part of any rapid prototype is the material it is made from. This principle is the same with pretty much anything; if a building is made from Styrofoam, it will not last nearly as long as one built from bricks.

After vigorous testing over the years, nylon material that either is nylon 12 or is similar has been found to be one of the best types of material to use when creating 3D prototypes. Not only is it affordable, but it is also incredibly durable, strong enough to be used for actual testing, and resistant to heat, moisture and chemicals.

This material lends versatility to objects, including giving the owner the option of painting the prototype to bring it to life, or ordering it in pieces that snap-fit together to create the final model. The nylon is flexible that it will not snap at the slightest pressure, but still strong enough that it is not flimsy when held. At 3D Prototype, we only use material of the highest quality.
